Members of the Hubb have been busy crafting to create things for local women and new mums.
Some of our members have been busy crocheting flowers to give out to over 200 local women in the community. The ladies have been crocheting and sharing their skills with each other to make the flowers in time for them to be distributed for International Women’s Day, on Tuesday 8th March. The flowers will each be accompanied by a postcard with an inspirational message on it from our brilliant female members.
International Women’s Day celebrates the contributions of women from all over the world and their social, economic, cultural, and political achievements. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity, and groups from all over the globe get together to celebrate and rally for women’s equality. To find our more about International Women’s Day and how you can get involved, have a look at their website.
In addition to the fantastic flowers, Nusrat, another of our members, has been busy knitting up a storm. She has been creating headbands for the charity New Beginnings, a local charity that provides ‘Newborn Bundles’ for the most vulnerable mothers in the community. These generally consist of a Moses Basket filled with toiletries and clothing for the first six weeks or so of a new baby’s life, gifted to families in need. To find out more about the charity, have a look at their website and their Facebook page.
Thank you to all our wonderful, generous members who have been involved and got crafty for two great causes!
